Snowbelt Morris and Sword Dancers resurrected morris dancing in the Rochester, NY area, after ten years' hiatus, when Bethany Comegys moved to the area from Albany and found it sadly lacking. Joined by her sister, Chris Bracken, and experienced dancers Pat Donaldson and Kathy Gisser, they began dancing out on Mayday in 2003.

The following years have added Laura Waterstripe (of diverse morris teams), Tod Burchell, Sarva, Ben, and Joe Clark to the team, and hopefully it is still expanding. Due to the (so-far) low number of members, we have made a habit of modifying traditional dances for smaller numbers, and writing brand new dances in traditional styles.

We added rapper in the fall of 2005. We were lucky enough to gain two musicians in 2006, with Laura and Bethany occasionally still playing backup.

We practice on Mondays from 7:30-9:30pm at the Pittsford Recreation Center in the winter, and when the weather improves, we practice at the gazebo by the canal in Fairport.

Mayday is held at the Cobbs Hill Park Reservoir in the temple building at 6am.
